The percentage of your body that is fat is probably the most important measure of your overall nutritional status.


It is vital to understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss. Weight loss can be achieved by a reduction in: fluid (dehydration), glycogen, muscle, bone, connective tissue and fat.
All forms of weight loss apart from fat loss are detrimental to health. Therefore, to use changes in body weight as our only measure of body composition is worse than useless. The readings of both ‘fat weight’ and 'lean mass' are vital.
